Waterford City Council Transition Year Art Programme

Facilitated Art Workshops in Waterford City Secondary Schools, Autumn 2011

The Workshops will run over six weeks in the autumn using a format that can be adapted to the needs and scheduling of the participating schools.

The participants explore their creativity by engaging with visual art processes. The workshops reference: landscape inspired paintings, exhibitions at the art galleries, and selected works from the Municipal Art Collection. Students are encouraged to:

  • Engage with the language of art appreciation
  • Reflect on the their personal response to the artwork
  • Explore how local culture can influence creativity
  • Consider factors that affect how artwork is valued

Waterford City Council logoIt is hoped that students will visit a local gallery where they can view and discuss the artworks.

Costs relating to materials and facilitation are sponsored by Waterford City Council through the Arts Office.
